STURGIS - Sturgis Public Schools has announced 71 English Language students tested out of needing EL services. The students achieved the milestone during the 2023-2024 school year by demonstrating proficiency on the World-class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) ACCESS, an assessment that measures the four language domains of listening, reading, speaking and writing. The WIDA ACCESS meets U.S. federal requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) for monitoring and reporting of EL progress toward English language proficiency.
