Celebrate Independence Day at Wildwood’s annual “Happy Birthday America” event
The city of Wildwood will bring back its annual “Happy Birthday America” event tomorrow, July 3, on the grounds of the Wildwood Community Center. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with vendors, food trucks, games, activities and entertainment – including live music by Clark Barrios. The night will conclude with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

That Rolling Acres Road roundabout is dangerous, especially in the dark and it’s on the bottom of the hill, down from the storage place, and if you’re speeding, you’re going to be in trouble. It’s ridiculous to put a roundabout there. It’s not The Villages.
Neighbors should have shown more compassion for grandchildren problem
The Villages has a regulation regarding children living here. This is good for the comfort and serenity of the residents. However, I do not think any of us would deny grandchildren in peril a place to reside safely. What The Villages fails to recognize are that state laws supersede any HOA laws when it comes to child safety. As a neighbor I would have hoped you would go over and find out what the situation is before condemning them. I just hope none of you find yourself in the position as I am certain you would expect understanding and compassion for your situation.

Wildwood’s Huey Street to close for drainage upgrade
City of Wildwood officials are advising travelers that Huey Street from Gamble Street to St. Clair Street will close to through traffic temporarily beginning Tuesday, July 2. The closure will facilitate utility and drainage system upgrades along with roadway reconstruction and enhancements. Residents in the affected area will retain access to their properties at all times. Other traffic will be directed along local detours marked by signage.
Leesburg’s Star Spangled Spectacular 4th of July Schedule
A water ski show, live music, fun family activities, collegiate baseball and amazing fireworks are all part of Leesburg’s Star Spangled Spectacular 4th of July. The festivities begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 4 at Ski Beach in Venetian Gardens, 201 Lake Harris Drive, Leesburg. This year’s event features carnival rides for kids and adults along with a photo booth, caricature artist and other entertainment. City of Leesburg announces closings for 4th of July holiday
City of Leesburg offices and facilities will close Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Closings include City Hall, the Municipal Services Center, Public Works, Recreational Complex and the Leesburg Public Library. There will be no garbage or yard waste collection on Thursday, July 4. Residential and hand commercial solid waste regularly scheduled for pick up on Thursdays will be picked up on Monday, July 8. There will be no change to dumpster service for the holiday.
