DSM Fire Department responds to fire near University Ave. and 23rd Street
DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Fire Department extinguished a building fire Monday night near the corner of university avenue and 23rd street. The fire began at the Old Main Apartments. DMFD says a singular sprinkler played major role in keeping a downtown building still standing
DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Fire Department credits a fire sprinkler with keeping a high-rise building in downtown standing. The fire department referred to the sprinkler as a "hero" in a Facebook post made on Thursday. The department says that just after 10 a.m. on Thursday, a sprinkler activated on the 20th floor of the Ligutti Tower apartment building located on 5th Avenue.
