Con-Struct Incorporated of Marshalltown won the project with a bid of $2.69 million. Newton City staff says the final cost was well under that price, despite the addition of a $52,536 change order. The 2021 Airport Improvement Program (AIP) for the Newton Municipal Airport included the design and reconstruction of the parallel taxiway at the north end of the airfield, to meet FAA requirements. The project also removed a portion of the old taxiway at the northwest end of the airport, and relocated it to be aligned with the remaining taxiway that extends southeast. Clappsaddle-Garber Associates of Marshalltown prepared plans and specifications for the project.
