One of the first players that EerSports noticed among the crowd of roughly one hundred participants at WVU's final one-day camp of the summer was Woodland Hills (PA) athlete Scoop Smith. The 2026 prospect put up a 36" vertical jump and a 4.44 40-yard dash during testing, and then followed that by impressing in position drills and dominating in one-on-ones. West Virginia led all power four football teams in rushing in 2023. The Mountaineers were at 228.9 yards per contest, pacing ahead of all but three teams total nationally. The offense relied on a pair of talented running backs in Jahiem White and CJ Donaldson to go along with the dual-threat abilities of quarterback Garrett Greene to create opportunities on the ground.
