As Saturday's "College GameDay" kicks off the 2024 college football season in Dublin, Ireland, legendary former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach turned college football analyst Nick Saban discussed how he perceives the sport's future with the increased evolution and use of the transfer portal.

Saban explained that he envisions players using the portal both to position themselves for their prospective careers and to aid the programs in which they join.

"I think what you're going to see in college football because of the portal, because of the changes, because of the evolution of the portal and how you can get players out of the portal with agents, you know, sort of placing players and all that, for their benefit so that they can enhance their career, but also that they can help their team be more successful," Saban said.

He continued by stating he believes there will be less deviation from the top programs and more teams benefitting through increased depth in their rosters.

"I think you're going to see less, like, deviation from the top," Saban added. "You're going to see more good teams. You're going to see more depth in every conference, which is going to make it more interesting for the fans."

Obviously, time will tell how accurate Saban's prediction will be, but the constantly changing college football landscape will certainly be an exciting dynamic to follow as the season progresses.
