Indiana vs FIU Prediction, Game Preview, and Betting Lines

    By Pete Fiutak,

Welcome to the start of the Curt Cignetti era at Indiana. He loaded up with transfers from James Madison, came up with a few key parts from other schools, and now this might be a dangerous sleeper in the Big Ten season.

FIU has a potentially interesting offense with head coach Mike MacIntyre trying to get it all going in Year Three.

    Why FIU Will Win

Can the Panthers somehow get the ground game going?

James Madison was a killer against the run, but it’s hardly a sure-thing that Cignetti can get it all working right away at IU. There are plenty of new parts, the experienced FIU O line should be better, and the rotation of backs might be able to establish something good right away.

This can’t get into a shootout. As long as the Panthers can extend the game and keep the chains moving …

    Why Indiana Will Win

Don’t be stunned if Indiana really does replicate the JMU success, at least right away.

The defense should be able to hold up just fine - FIU has playmakers, but there’s not enough of a deep threat to open things up.

The Hoosiers will keep everything in front of them and should swarm around the run starting with the vastly improved line.

Offensively, the combination of Ohio transfer Kurtis Rourke at quarterback and James Madison receiver Elijah Surratt should hit the FIU secondary from the start.

Indiana vs FIU: Who Will Win

FIU has just enough offensive talent to keep this from getting out of hand, but it’ll never be in range to make a push.

Indiana will be steady, the defense will be great, and everyone will start to realize just how good a get Rourke is for the Hoosier O.
