It’s not over for Florida State.

It can get back on track after losing to Georgia Tech 24-21, get to ten regular season wins, and - probably - make the College Football Playoff. But it probably would be all over with a second loss to an ACC team.

Boston College has a dangerous team under new head coach Bill O’Brien, but it has a brutal start to the season with this, a trip to Missouri, and Michigan State all in the first four weeks.

Why Boston College Will Win

The Florida State offense didn’t work.

It couldn’t run the ball against Georgia Tech, QB DJ Uiagalalei couldn’t do much of anything down the field, and the O stalled after a good opening drive.

The Boston College defense didn’t get in to the backfield at all last year, but there’s a ton of size and a lot of experience to hold up against the Seminoles on the ground. With all of the pressure on the other side of the field to explode, a few good early stops could force an FSU panic.

Why Florida State Will Win

For all the grouchiness and all the problems, the Seminoles didn’t make any big mistakes against the Yellow Jackets.

There weren’t any turnovers and it got hit with just one penalty. And for all of the issues and concerns, the weather was bad, it was played on another continent, it was Week 0, and …

Florida State still has a ton of talent. The defense did a good job overall against Georgia Tech, and this week, the offense probably won’t get pressured all that much unless the new BC coaching staff can figure out how to dial up a pass rush in a hurry.

Florida State vs Boston College: Who Will Win

This won’t exactly calm the fears that Florida State is a boatload of meh, but it’ll get everything back on track for a week.

The defense will handle the Eagle running game, the offense will have a nice balance to keep things moving, and Ryan Fitzgerald will hit four field goals to finish off just enough drives to stay one step ahead.

This won’t be as dramatic as last year’s 31-29 FSU win, but it’ll still be a bit of a fight.
