Circus joins Essex Labor Day schedule
(Essex) -- This year's Essex Labor Day Celebration is a circus--literally. For the second time in three years, the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus joins the annual celebration's lineup of activities. Performances are slated for Friday, August 30th at 5 and 7:30 p.m. at the Essex High School track/field along Highway 48. In a recent interview on KMA's "Morning Line" program, Essex Community Development Director Tess Nelson says the city looks forward to the circus' return Labor Day weekend.
Wabash Arts Camp: kids' summer arts Nirvana
(Shenandoah) -- Students and instructors agree--summer in Shenandoah wouldn't be the same without the Wabash Arts Camp. One-hundred-50 children in grades 3 through 7 from all over KMAland and several states flocked to Shenandoah's National Guard Armory and Sportman's Park Restored Depot for the 33rd annual camp. Twenty-one different classes running the full gamut of arts and crafts, music, dance and theatre arts were offered in this year's camp. Marla Hart is the camp's co-director. Hart tells KMA News there are several keys to the camp's annual success.
