MH sweeps benefit football games over CAC
Mountain Home had a successful tuneup for the upcoming football season as they swept a pair of benefit games over Central Arkansas Christian on Tuesday. The Bombers put the mercy rule in effect in the high school game as they routed the Mustangs 56-21. Mountain Home will have two more events at Bomber Stadium. First Security Bomberfest is scheduled for this Friday, and the season opener is Aug. 30 as they host West Plains in the inaugural Battle of the Border game.
Women's Soccer's Home Opener Canceled
CONWAY, Ark. – Due to roster issues within the Alcorn State program, Thursday's match against the Braves has been canceled. The Central Arkansas women's soccer team will instead host a Purple and Gray scrimmage at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex, inviting fans to see the team in action at home as the school year kicks off. The scrimmage will start at 5 p.m.

Junior Maddox Berry passed for 150 yards and two touchdowns and junior Keaton Robinson had a 61-yard touchdown run, but the Morrilton High School football team fell to Conway, 44-21, in two quarters of live action in a preseason benefit scrimmage on Tuesday night in Conway. We got wind last week of an apparent sale of the former Central Primary School property. Yes, there is signage on the perimeter chain-link fence saying “SOLD”, but at last check Tuesday morning there had not been a deed recorded at the Clark County Circuit Clerk’s Office. We also asked Arkadelphia Public Schools Superintendent Nikki Thomas about the sale. Her response: The sale is pending. We’ll continue checking real estate records and hoping that 1) the school district may soon rid itself of this asset, and 2) the buyer has a solid plan for the property that will benefit Arkadelphia.
