Since joining the SEC, it has seemed like the Texas A&M Aggies are on the cusp of becoming a breakout team. However, instead of achieving consecutive huge seasons, the Aggies have only produced one 10+ win season.

The Aggies' highly anticipated 2022 class, ranked No. 1 in the country, was expected to be the group that propelled Texas A&M to success. However, the team's performance has been disappointing, with a record of 12-13 the last two seasons and the subsequent firing of head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Texas A&M is now led by former Duke Blue Devils head coach Mike Elko, to hopefully change things. According to Paul Finebaum's conversation with Berry Tramel from the Tulsa World , the outcome of the Aggies' season may hinge on their game against Texas.

"I think they will have a good season but not a great season," Finebaum said. "I frankly think their season comes down to one game. Where have you heard this before? It's the Texas game."

Paul Finebaum stated that the game will create one of college football's most "frenzied" atmospheres this season. However, even with a win, he lacks faith in the Aggies as a playoff team.

According to ESPN's Football Power Index , the Aggies are ranked as the No. 14 team in the country and are projected to win seven games in 2024. Although the Aggies have only a 3.2% chance of winning the SEC, they have a 21% chance of making the College Football Playoff.
