Tracy originally began his career at Houston before deciding to transfer to A&M following his freshman season. Now, he’ll evaluate options once again. Tracy had been playing for the Falmouth Commodores in a summer league separate from college ball, but on Friday, he was released.

Texas A&M was expected to retain a lot of portalers when Michael Earley was hired as head coach

After news of Michael Earley’s hire, D1 Baseball’s Kendall Rogers revealed two interesting possibilities for Texas A&M moving forward: He expected all of the A&M players that entered the NCAA transfer portal to return to College Station and that a Power Five head coach could be Earley’s top assistant in 2025.

Earley has spent the last three seasons serving as Texas A&M’s hitting coach. During that time he’s seen the Aggies compile a 135-62 record including a trip to the 2024 College World Series, where they came up just short in three games to SEC rival Tennessee. They finished with a 53-15 overall record and went 19-11 in the SEC last season.

Offensively, Texas A&M was one of the strongest last season. No team in the country drew more walks (422) than the Aggies did last season while ranking in the top 10 in home runs (136) and total runs (575). They also averaged 8.5 runs per game last season.

Before coming to College Station, he spent the five previous seasons on staff at Arizona State, where he played a role in the development of eventual No. 1 overall pick Spencer Torkelson.

With the raft of portalers coming back, there’s no reason not to believe that the Aggies can’t keep that momentum going heading into 2025. A dozen different Texas A&M baseball players, including some of the team’s biggest stars from this past season, entered the transfer portal in one day following the news that former head coach Jim Schlossnagle was leaving Texas A&M in favor of in-state rival Texas but now most have announced they plan to stay put.

In a previous report, Rogers explained that even if the Texas A&M players do plan on returning to the program, being in contact with other schools will help them determine how much value in NIL they’re worth isn’t a bad thing for those in the portal. They get to find out their worth to another program and can possibly use that to their advantage if they are seeking a return to College Station.
