The Texas A&M Aggies have had a lot of work to do this offseason especially when it comes to the offensive side of the ball.

Of all the hires that new head coach Mike Elko made during his first offseason, the most exciting may have been offensive coordinator Collin Klein . Klein had a successful tenure at Kansas State and helped guide the Wildcats to a top-25 offense nationally last season.

During his Tuesday media availability during fall camp , Klein was asked about simulating games in practice how important it is to play with urgency and pace during camp in terms of lining up and getting going.

"I think it's huge, and I think it's a mentality thing, and that really comes right from Coach Elko, too. It's not necessarily what you're going to do from a huddle standpoint, from a speed standpoint, slow, fast, whatever it happens to be, but just practicing with that edge," Klein said. "Every snap is the biggest snap and the biggest game that we're going to play all year and having that mentality when they go to the line of scrimmage and truly being able to then dictate the tempo regardless of how you're operating in that moment. The guys have embraced that. We've made great strides, even from spring to now in those ways, and got to keep it up."

It seems like Elko has instituted a system where there are no wasted snaps and every play in practice is critical in the pursuit of getting better with each and every rep.

And that's exactly the mentality that will eventually breed winning football.
