New Speed Limit in Albany
Most city streets have a max of 30 mph, but that is changing. The city speed limit will no longer be 30 mph in the City of Albany after the Common Council voted unanimously to lower the limit. On most city streets, the limit will be reduced to 25 mph.

Albany's Empire State Plaza to host July 4 celebration with ceremony and music
ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — New York State's Independence Day celebration will be held at the Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany this year. With the venue open at 4 p.m., the event will feature a naturalization ceremony for new citizens, a flyover, live music, food and beverages, and activities for children, leading up to the fireworks show at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Referee approves 80-townhouse land division
As expected, a referee has ruled for the City of Albany in two property owners’ appeal over a planned 80-lot subdivision in North Albany. Audrey Eldridge and Brad Dennis, both owners in North Albany, had challenged the city’s approval of Riverwood Crossing, a development of 80 townhouses along a new section of Laura Vista Drive south of Gibson Hill Road.

Officials energize largest EV charging site between Albany and Canadian border
The New York Power Authority has unveiled what it says is the largest high-speed EV charging plaza between Albany and the Canadian border. The Power Authority is working with the state Department of Transportation to complete phase one of a National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, or NEVI, project to build an EV charging network along the state’s major highways. Twelve Evolve NY charging ports and eight Tesla ports have been electrified at the Frontier Town Gateway in North Hudson, just off Northway Exit 29. New York Power Authority Manager of Project Engineering for the E-Mobility Group Jim Bright says the location is pre-wired for four additional stations to be added.
