(Colorado Springs, CO) Art doesn't have to be large to make an impression. Sometimes a tiny masterpiece can steal the show, like the brilliant Civic Treasures in Colorado Springs.

A brick-sized metal sculpture of two camels kissing is on the south exterior wall of Rutledge's in downtown Colorado Springs (northwest corner of Tejon and Kiowa). The sculpture is one of Scottie Burgess' gems.

He created four miniature marvels of famous landmarks in and around Colorado Springs.

Civic Treasure #1 is the camel sculpture which represents the iconic rock formation in Garden of the Gods Park.

Across the street is Civic Treasure #2, a flying W for Flying W Ranch, one of the last remaining original ranches in Colorado. The venue has a popular chuckwagon and western stage show in the summer. The small sculpture is on the southwest corner of Tejon and Kiowa.

Civic Treasure #3 is a stack of seven bronze "falls" to represent Seven Falls, the beautiful waterfall in South Cheyenne Cañon. The art is tucked in a corner on the south side of Pikes Peak Avenue between Tejon and Nevada.

The last sculpture, Civic Treasure #4, is a little figure peeking around the word "pikes" to symbolize Pikes Peak. The tiny art is near the police station on the northwest corner of Pikes Peak Avenue and Tejon Street.

The little treasures require some searching, but that is part of the fun. Yellow footprints on the sidewalk will guide you to the art - a scavenger hunt with a cool prize.
