(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) is working to identify a driver who allegedly ran from a traffic stop after causing multiple crashes in the evening hours of Monday, May 6, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

According to CSPD, on Monday at around 7:45 p.m., troopers attempted to stop a vehicle at I-25 and Fillmore Street when the suspect eluded law enforcement and CSP did not pursue them.

Police said the driver then continued through the off-ramp crossing eastbound lanes of traffic, into westbound lanes, where they hit multiple vehicles, before crashing into a curb and an overhead light. The suspect vehicle then rolled multiple times, before it eventually came to a stop.

While troopers were checking on drivers in the vehicles hit, the suspect left the area on foot.

According to CSP, one driver whose vehicle was hit was taken to the hospital, and officers with CSPD responded to the area to investigate. The on-ramp to I-25 southbound at Fillmore St. was closed for an extended time and Colorado Springs Utilities was called to fix the downed light.

Police said troopers are continuing their investigation to identify the driver for alleged eluding and other crash-related charges.
