(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Beginning Monday, May 20 there will be various road closures in the Colorado Springs area.
These projects will address different details in each road, including aging pavement, curb, and gutter, improved drainage along the corridor, new installations, and underground work.
South Academy Boulevard closure
Starting Monday, May 20 a full closure of Airport Road, west of South Academy Boulevard, will be in place for the summer.
Both eastbound and westbound Airport will be fully closed west of South Academy to allow crews to complete various underground utility and intersection improvements.
Airport Road motorists are advised to detour north to Pikes Peak Avenue using Chelton Road and South Academy for east and west access. South Academy motorists may detour for west Aiport, travel west on Pikes Peak then south on Chelton to Airport.
All businesses will remain open and accessible throughout the closure, access through South Academy is advised.

Boychuck Avenue closure
Boychuck Avenue will fully close in front of the Lamplighter Neighborhood between Hancock Expressway and Drennan Road starting Monday, May 20.
The main entrance to the neighborhood will be closed, traffic will use the southern entrance. Motorists looking for access to Boychuck north of the Lamplighter neighborhood should use Hancock Expressway while those who want to travel south are advised to use Drennan Road.
The road will reopen Friday, May 24, and close again on Friday, May 31 through Friday, June 7. The closures will expedite underground waterline installation and new roadway pacing along Boychuck and South Academy.
