(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man is under arrest after he allegedly went back to the adult bookstore where he previously worked and pepper sprayed an employee before robbing the business.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers originally responded to a reported robbery just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, at the First Amendment Adult Bookstore on Fillmore Street east of Nevada Avenue.

CSPD said officers were informed that a man had walked into the bookstore and used bear-strength pepper spray on the employee, before stealing money from the cash register. Detectives with the Robbery Unit learned through follow-up investigation that the suspect, 41-year-old Richard Adams, was a former employee of the bookstore.

Detectives performed a search for the suspect on Thursday, May 30 on 8th Street north of Motor City, eventually locating and arresting Adams without incident.
