(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Two people suffered minor injuries after the single-engine airplane they were traveling in made an emergency landing in a field off of Airport Road on Friday, May 31.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) held a press conference to provide updates, and said the initial call came in at 12:45 p.m. from the Colorado Springs Airport Operations Tower, reporting a single-engine aircraft with possible engine trouble. The plane made an emergency landing in a field near Airport Road and South Powers Boulevard.

CSFD said there were two people on board, and both suffered only minor injuries and were treated and released on scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will take over the investigation of the emergency landing. CSFD said Hazmat crews responded to ensure there were no fuel leaks, and later posted on social media that all of its crews had cleared the scene just before 3 p.m.
