(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said an altercation between two people is what led to shots fired at a Walgreens in Old Colorado City on Sunday, June 16.

Police said on Sunday, at around 1:30 p.m. officers were called for an active shooter at the 3100 block of West Colorado Avenue. When officers arrived they found one person with non-life-threatening injuries in front of the Walgreens. Officers were told that a possible suspect was still in the store.

Officers contacted people in nearby businesses asking them to shelter in place and called for the tactical unit to respond. Patrol officers entered the store and found one person inside, and escorted them to safety.

According to CSPD, the tactical unit responded and cleared the building, at around that time a second person went to the hospital in a personal vehicle with a gunshot wound.

Police said the investigation revealed the incident was the result of a disturbance between two people with gunshot wounds and not an active shooter situation. Police are investigating the incident and there have been no arrests at this time.
