A dog’s nightly shenanigans led to disaster as their curiosity led them to turn on a stove, which started a house fire. The Colorado Springs Fire Department posted the surveillance footage on Facebook , which caught the canine in the act. Fortunately, the homeowners were alerted, and they promptly put out the flames.
The firefighters were dispatched early in the morning, at around 4:45 a.m. However, by the time the officials arrived at the scene, one of the residents had already extinguished the fire. Fortunately, the authorities reported the family wasn’t injured, but the person who put out the house fire had to be hospitalized for inhaling too much smoke.
After further investigation and looking through the surveillance footage, the investigators realized the homeowners’ pup was to blame . The fire department noted that the dog probably got too curious about the stove and turned it on, which started the house fire. Moreover, there were cardboard boxes on top of it, which were highly flammable. The canine gave the boxes a quick sniff before leaving, and they caught fire soon after.
The residents’ Apple HomePod notified them of the high temperatures, waking them up in time. Unfortunately, while everyone safely made it out of the fire, their property sustained significant damage. According to USA Today , the family has currently been displaced.
The fire department also used the opportunity to remind everyone to ensure their smoke alarms are working. Moreover, flammable objects should always be far from the stove and oven to prevent such situations.
