Walmart shopper claims employee ‘wrongfully pulled’ her from checkout – store replies explaining ‘dedicated’ services

WALMART has been at the forefront of implementing tech-driven solutions to enhance the customer experience.
However, as one recent X/Twitter thread highlighted, navigating these advancements can sometimes be a bit murky.
A Walmart customer, Kiandra, shared a tweet, seeking clarity on a sign at her local store.
She reached out to the retail behemoth, asking for elaboration on Walmart's Scan & Go or Spark Driver App service.
A day later, she received a response from Walmart's official X/Twitter account that explained how "dedicated registers" exist for these services, reserved exclusively for their users.
Walmart also urged Kiandra to reach out to the store to get more clarity on the service.
Kiandra, however, declined and instead detailed her experience to a Walmart employee.
"I was right and the employee wrongfully pulled me out but somehow let another customer with scan & go, like myself, use the services," she said in her reply.
There has not been a reply from Walmart at the time of this writing.
SCAN & GO EXPLAINED
Scan & Go, an attribute integrated into the Walmart application, claims a smoother shopping experience in the store.
It also cuts down on direct interactions, which is supposed to facilitate a swift and safe departure for customers.
To use the feature, you must first download the Walmart app, then navigate to the Services menu and find the Scan & Go icon.
The feature will not activate unless you are near or already inside a Walmart store.
To add items to your cart, scan the barcode of the desired item with your phone's camera and that'll keep a record of everything you've scanned.
However, you won't be able to scan certain items with the app.
For one, the app won't be able to scan weighable produce; this must be brought to self-checkout.
You'll also be disallowed from scanning alcohol as a Walmart employee must have a look at your ID at the regular checkout station.
Walmart stores closed in 2024
So far, Walmart has closed the following stores in 2024:
San Diego, California - February 9
El Cajon, California - February 9
Columbus, Ohio - February 16
West Covina, California - March 29
Towson, Maryland - April 5
Granite Bay, California - April 12
Milwaukee, Wisconsin - May 19
Fremont, California - May 24
Aurora, Colorado - June 7
After completing your shopping, you can't simply leave the store, though.
Instead, you need to visit the self-checkout section and scan a QR code displayed on one of the screens there.
Following that, you'll finalize your payment on your smartphone using the card information.
Then you'll promptly receive your receipt.
Meanwhile, Walmart has implemented a significant change in all of its stores that could potentially earn certain individuals up to $1,000 more annually.
And Walmart customers have expressed frustration over the appearance of their shopping carts after spending hundreds of dollars at the store.
