Suspect in shooting found and booked in jail
On Friday, July 19, 2024 at 9:36 a.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a report of shots fired inside an apartment in the 4200 block of Northeast Cully Boulevard. When the arrived they learned that an adult male was alone in the apartment, had fired shots, and had access to multiple guns. Officers surrounded the apartment and began a dialogue with the man. He refused to come out of the apartment and began throwing objects out of windows, including household items and small furniture.

On June 27, the Makrokosmos Project hosted their tenth anniversary show at the Salmon on Redd. Stephanie Ho and Saar Ahuvia, along with half a dozen local pianists and members of the Portland Percussion Group, tackled the entire Makrokosmos cycle by American avant-garde composer George Crumb, along with two premieres of music by Juri Seo.

KOIN 6 News visited a kitten yoga event at the Northeast Community Center in Portland, where attendees could exercise with cute kittens meandering around the floor area, while also offering the opportunity to adopt the 21 participating kittens for $10.

Motorcyclist killed in Gresham collision Saturday, July 20
A Gresham motorcyclist was killed in a crash Saturday morning, July 20. At 10 a.m. Gresham Police officers and medical personnel responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and pickup truck at the intersection of Southeast 190th Drive and Southeast Cheldelin Road. The motorcyclist was killed in the collision. The driver of the pickup stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The East Metro Vehicular Crimes Team is leading the investigation. Police say the motorcycle may have been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the fatal crash. Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not already spoken with an officer is asked to call the Gresham Police tip-line at 503-618-2719.

Brush fire erupts north of Prineville
A brush fire broke out Saturday afternoon about 6 miles north of Prineville that is spreading fast and prompting evacuations. According to an Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) report, the fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. The Cat Rock Fire is burning toward the southeast and has grown to an estimated 500 acres. U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and Crook County Fire and Rescue are assisting at the fire. In addition, aircraft are actively engaged on the wildfire. ...
After fatal drug overdose, Oregon State Hospital resumes limited in-person visits for patients
Oregon State Hospital will resume in-person visits for some patients on Monday after suspending them in May after a patient died of a suspected fentanyl overdose. Officials at the state-run psychiatric facility suspended in-person visits between patients and their family and friends so the hospital could retool its visiting policies, with an eye toward preventing visitors from passing drugs or other contraband on to patients. The hospital has nearly 700 patients between its main campus in Salem and a smaller satellite campus in Junction City.
