Flooding, power outages and downed trees reported in Mid-Missouri after Wednesday morning storms

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Storms hit Mid-Missouri early Wednesday, causing widespread flooding, power outages and knocking trees onto roads.

Around 1:30 a.m. Columbia Water and Light's power outage map showed over a thousand people without power in Columbia. Just before 5 a.m. most residents had their power restored and those effected by the outage was less than 50. At 7:30 a.m. the outage map reported there were no power outages in Columbia.

Ameren reported nearly 600 people without power in the Prairie Home around 8:15 a.m.

There is no estimate on when power will be restored, according to Ameren.

Boone County Joint Communications also issued several alerts for flooding and trees blocking roadways in Boone County Wednesday morning.

At 6:55 a.m. BCJC alerted a tree down on the 10800 block of East Verners Ford Road and a few minutes before that an alert was issued for a tree blocking a road on East Snowy Hills Lane. A tree was also reported down on College north of Windsor.

Water and Rocks were also reported blocking the road in the area of West Old Plank and Forum Blvd.

Flooded roads have also been reported around the 3200 block of Creasy Springs Rd and Blackfoot Rd near the intersection of O'Neal Rd which caused the road to be closed.

Highway CC at Tri City Lake Rd is also flooded, according to BCJC and is creating a traffic hazard.
