Top-15 class of 2025 prospect Deniya Prawl has named South Carolina as one of her eight finalists.

Prawl announced her top eight on social media on Friday. They are South Carolina, Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Baylor, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and UConn.

Prawl is a multitalented 6-2 player from Toronto, Canada. Canada Basketball lists her as a guard, ESPN lists her as a wing, and On3 lists her as a forward. The discrepancy is a pretty good indicator of how versatile Prawl is.

Prawl is one of three extremely talented young Canadians – along with Agot Makeer and Savvy Swords – who led Canada to a silver medal at the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup. She averaged 11.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists during the tournament, leading the team in rebounds and assists.

Prawl also played in the 2022 U17 World Cup.

There’s a lot of young talent in Canada, especially in the Toronto area. South Carolina is trying to make inroads there. The Gamecocks are also a finalist for Makeer and were recently finalists for Cassandre Prosper (Notre Dame) and Toby Fournier (Duke), although they missed on both.

Of course, the Gamecocks got Laeticia Amihere, another Toronto-area player, to head south of the border and it was good for both sides.

Last summer, Prawl transferred to IMG Academy in Florida for her junior year. She had a very productive first season there, setting up her big summer in international play.
