COLUMBIANA, Ohio (WKBN) – A project to replace the bleachers at Columbiana’s football stadium got a much-needed financial boost from Dick’s Sporting Goods Monday night.

The company is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation, awarding grants to local youth sports organizations.

The Columbiana Athletic Boosters were nominated and received $10,000 for the bleacher project.

The work includes removing the old concrete stands and replacing them with new aluminum seating.

“Honestly, it’s all for the kids. That was the motivating factor. To work at a company that actually believes in sports making a difference in children’s lives, I just feel so fortunate to work for a company that believes in that, and to also live in a community that supports that,” said Brianna Rust, Dick’s Sporting Goods senior buyer.

The project costs between $1.5 and $2 million. It’s funded entirely by donations.

It’s expected to be completed by the time football season kicks off this fall.
