Mississippi State Bulldogs Break Records with 9 Olympians in Paris 2024
Mississippi State University has a record-breaking nine individuals participating in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, representing seven countries across three different sports. Among them, Catalina Perez and Ilana Izquierdo are marking firsts for MSU in Olympic soccer, and Nuno Borges is the first-ever Bulldog Olympian in tennis. Borges, ranked at No. 42 globally, enters the Games on a high note after defeating Rafael Nadal to win the Nordea Open. Curtis Thompson is the sole American athlete from MSU, while Marco Arop, Navasky Anderson, and Anderson Peters contribute to MSU's unique representation in specific track and field events.

Preslee Jackson loves the game of softball. When the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers were finally able to open the season Friday, she was ready. Jackson started out hot at the plate with a pair of doubles, a single and drove in four runs as the Lady Vols defeated the Columbus Christian Lady Rams 19-0 in four innings.

When coach Sam Purcell had to go back to the drawing board to build a roster this offseason at Mississippi State, Eniya Russell was one of the first targets on the board. Purcell has known Russell dating back to the early stages of her recruitment. Lady Vols set to open softball season
Five years into his post at Starkville Academy, Lee Berryhill is no longer the new guy on the block for the Lady Volunteers. Berryhill is a multi-time hall of fame softball coach and just recently joined the hall of the Mississippi Association of Coaches. Following a long and productive career coaching, most notably, at Eupora and East Webster, Berryhill took on a major challenge in rebuilding the softball program at Starkville Academy.

Without having played a single game, Chandler Prater is already making her mark inside the Mississippi State basketball locker room. A veteran inside the Power 4 conferences, Prater played her first four years at Kansas before transferring within the Big 12 conference to Oklahoma State. She was poised for a big final year of basketball before she went down with an Achilles injury just five games into the campaign.

After Tuesday night's 2-0 victory in a scrimmage against Starkville Home School, Hampton was encouraged with what he saw.
