Raven Girls at Columbus, Boys Face Falcons Monday
The Hillcrest Academy Raven boys and girls are ready for action Monday against Southeast Iowa Superconference foes Columbus and Louisa-Muscatine. The Raven girls are 10-12 on the season, 6-7 in the Superconference, following back-to-back losses to Wapello and L-M. The Ravens hit .293 as a team with a .402OBP and slug, scoring 152 runs on 156 hits with 88 walks and 164 strikeouts. Three Ravens hit .350 or better led by Malia Yoder at .538 with 35 total hits, 28 runs scored and 27 driven in. Delaney Shaw and Claire Withrow are also over .350. In the circle, Yoder is 10-10 with a .198 opponent average on 119 hits, 63 earned runs, 152 strikeouts and a 3.88ERA.
UI art professor and students cross the state on hand-built bikes
Editor’s note: For six days at the beginning of June, The Daily Iowan photojournalist Jordan Barry participated in a bike tour with University of Iowa Art School professor Steve McGuire and his students as they biked from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Muscatine, Iowa. McGuire and his students rode bikes they put together in his Hand Built Bike classes 490 miles across the state, averaging 83 miles per day, from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River. This piece is written in a first-person perspective to provide a more intimate account of the story.
