2 indicted for trafficking meth and fentanyl in Rochester area
MINNEAPOLIS – Two people face federal drug and firearm charges for alleged trafficking of methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Rochester area. Court records say Donald Sanderson, 41, and Lindsey Stolpa, 29, were caught with more than 14 kilograms of meth and 200 fentanyl pills after a high-speed chase and police stand-off in July. Officers said Sanderson was also illegally possessing a nine millimeter semiautomatic pistol.

Man, 90, dies in early morning crash in St. Paul
ST. PAUL, Minn. — A man in his 90s died on Wednesday morning in a crash near Como Park, where the street lights were off because of a power outage.According to St. Paul police, he was a passenger in a Ford Transit van that was hit by a driver in a Dodge Journey at the intersection of Lexington Parkway and Como Avenue. The crash happened around 5:15 a.m.The van rolled to its side. The man was removed from the van and taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.Officials say the street lights and stop lights at the intersection were not operating due to the power outages caused by a storm on Tuesday.Police say the driver of the Dodge Journey is cooperating and impairment is not suspected. The crash is under investigation.

Severe Thursday storms could impact Minnesota State Fair, Gopher home opener
MINNEAPOLIS — A NEXT Weather Alert is in effect on Thursday evening in the Twin Cities, with possible storms that could impact the Minnesota State Fair and the Gophers' football home opener.There is an enhanced risk (three on a scale of five) of severe weather in the metro between 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with wind, heavy rain and an isolated threat of a tornado. Of those, the damaging winds look to pose the strongest risk in the Twin Cities metro area and beyond.The humidity will drop behind the storm system, leaving the metro with a stretch of really comfortable days.Friday will be in the upper 70s, and will be a #Top10WxDay. Temps on Saturday could be in the lower 80s.Slightly cooler air will move in on Sunday and Labor Day, bringing high temps down in the lower to mid-70s — a great way to wrap up meteorological summer.Early next week appears to be dry and slowly warming closer to average, with possibly one of the best stretches of weather the metro has seen in some time.
