UConn fans will have to wait to see their team play at the "Shoe" after the Ohio State Buckeyes decided to cancel the 2025 home game against the Huskies.

On Monday, Brett McMurphy reported the Buckeyes have canceled its 2025 home game against the Huskies and replaced it with a game against Grambling State from the FCS division. Currently, no reason has been provided for the cancellation.

The Buckeyes have a non-conference game scheduled against Texas in 2025, so that might have played a part. However, the Huskies have been on a downward spiral for more than a decade. UConn's last winning season was in 2010 when the team went 8-5. Since then, UConn has only made two bowl games, in 2015 and 2022, both of which the Huskies lost.

Grambling State didn't fare much better, with the Tigers finishing 5-6 last season, marking four straight losing seasons.

Consequently, college football fans mocked the Buckeyes' decision to cancel its game against UConn. Some fans were joking that Ohio State was 'scared' to play the Huskies, while others brought up OSU's relatively easy 2024 schedule.
