Many Ohio State fans will be delighted in mid-July when the new EA Sports College Football 25 video game is released . Many of those fans will be shocked to see what EA Sports has rated the offense going into the release.

The Buckeyes come in at No. 5 with an 89 overall offense initially. Ohio State has the same rated offense as LSU, Miami, and Colorado. I and anyone else who follows college football will be able to tell you that Ohio State has a more dangerous offense than each of those teams going into the season.

Ohio State finds themselves behind Georgia, Oregon, Alabama, and Texas in the rankings.

EA Sports College Football 25 offensive team rankings

    • Georgia: 94 Overall
    • Oregon: 94 Overall
    • Alabama: 91 Overall
    • Texas: 91 Overall
    • Ohio State: 89 Overall
    • LSU: 89 Overall
    • Miami: 89 Overall
    • Colorado: 89 Overall
    • Missouri: 89 Overall
    • Clemson: 87 Overall
    • Utah: 87 Overall
    • Penn State: 87 Overall
    • Ole Miss: 87 Overall
    • Kansas: 87 Overall
    • Arizona: 87 Overall
    • NC State: 87 Overall
    • Notre Dame: 85 Overall
    • Texas A&M: 85 Overall
    • Memphis: 85 Overall
    • SMU: 85 Overall
    • UCF: 85 Overall
    • Florida State: 83 Overall
    • Oklahoma: 83 Overall
    • Virginia Tech: 83 Overall
    • USC: 83 Overall

Sure, the offense doesn’t have a quarterback named yet but it would be a shock if it was anyone other than graduate transfer Will Howard. The Buckeyes added transfer running back Quinshon Judkins to a room that already had TreVeyon Henderson to make up the best running back duo in college football . Marvin Harrison Jr. Is now in the NFL, but freshman phenom wideout Jeremiah Smith enters the mix and the room consists of Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate, and Brandon Inniss. Combine that with a top-10 offensive line and Chip Kelly on the staff, and the Buckeyes not being at least tied for first is wild.

A team like Tennessee was not even named in the list. EA Sports used Pro Football Focus to help make up the ratings, so much of it very well could be presented to us as they see it.

Ratings can change and they will, but the initial rankings for the offenses around the country is a pretty bad list and EA Sports will have some work to do. Nonetheless, we have to be thankful that the game is back because it is just about that time.
