One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash on an interstate ramp in Columbus Sunday night.

The crash happened at 10:19 p.m. on the westbound Interstate 70 ramp to the northbound lanes of Interstate 71, according to Columbus police. The unidentified driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer lost control of the SUV, which left the left side of the highway and crashed into the median wall.

The SUV flipped after the impact and landed on the driver's side. It slid back across the ramp to the right side of the road, struck the curb and came to a rest on top of the driver, police said.

EMS pronounced the driver dead at the scene.

Columbus police have not released the driver's identity, who is described only as an adult in the police report. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
