Since 2000, the Ohio State Buckeyes have consistently beaten the Michigan Wolverines. However, the tide has turned over the last three seasons.

Ohio State has a 17-6 record against Michigan but has lost the last three matchups. The Wolverines utilized these victories to secure three conference championships and one national championship.

The Buckeyes are looking to reclaim the rivalry against Michigan by leveraging an active offseason, which includes finishing with the top transfer portal class based on the average player grade .

Fox Sports' Joel Klatt interviewed Ohio State head coach Ryan Day where he suggested that rivals often motivate each other and mentioned Ohio State's dominance motivated Michigan.

"I have made the point, even outside of this, that what makes rivalries in college football so great is they drive each other to greatness," Klatt said on an episode of The Joel Klatt Show . "I don't believe Michigan goes on the run that they did unless Ohio State was doing to them what Ohio State was doing to them in the previous eight seasons."

Klatt thinks this offseason could be the reverse happening. He thinks Michigan winning a national championship last season has caused a new drive in Ohio State. But Day shoots that down, saying teams should be motivated to win a national championship every year.

"I don't think that any year you are any more or less motivated," Day said. "I think that every year, every team is a little bit different. To say those games haven't stung, of course they have."

Day mentioned they need to learn how to bounce back from losing that game. Returning key players and adding new ones through the transfer portal should help with that. Now, it's about assembling everything to not only beat Michigan but potentially win a national championship.
