Denzel Burke came back to Ohio State in 2024 for one reason only: to win a national championship with the Buckeyes.

This was the message he sent to the Buckeyes locker room, especially to younger players primed to step up in the spotlight. Burke could’ve gone to the NFL after his third season at Ohio State but chose to return to Columbus to compete with one of the nation's most talented lineups.

After suffering through three consecutive devastating losses to its arch-rival, Michigan Wolverines, and no CFP national title to show, Burke wants to finally reach college football's summit this fall.

While at day one of Big Ten media days in Indianapolis, Indiana, Burke explained his reasoning for returning and what he envisions the end goal to be for the Buckeyes this fall.

“Just kind of put out there just to kind of get the younger guys and all the transfers you know, understand that I ain’t come back for no BS,” Burke told reporters. “You know, we’re here to win it all. We’re going to need everybody, guys hold each other accountable and every game is a matchup game this year and no matter who we're playing, it’s our job to just take them out and dominate them.”

Burke finished last season with 24 total tackles, 18 solo tackles, three tackles for loss, one interception, nine pass deflections and one forced fumble. Throughout his career, Burke has 95 total tackles, 70 solo tackles, six tackles for loss, two interceptions, 26 pass deflections, one forced fumble and one defensive touchdown.

With a tremendous amount of talent throughout the Buckeyes' roster, the 2024 season could potentially be the year Ohio State brings its first national championship since 2015 back to Columbus.

Ohio State opens its 2024 campaign on Aug. 31 against the Akron Zips from Ohio Stadium at 3:30 PM (ET) on CBS.
