As usual, there’s plenty happening in Central Ohio, and this week, fans of steak and sweet breakfasts have a lot of new options.

Starliner Diner acquires York Steak House

The owners of Hilliard’s Starliner Diner announced on social media this week that they have purchased the York Steak House at 4220 W. Broad St., after the longtime steakhouse owner put the business up for sale earlier this spring. The York Steak House has been a west side fixture since 1966; it’s the last remaining location of a chain that once spanned nearly 200 restaurants nationwide . Starliner customers initially expressed confusion over the announcement, as the diner owners indicated that steakhouse dishes would make their way to the Starliner menu. A later post clarified that both businesses will continue operating normally, while some steakhouse menu items might join the diner’s evening offerings. This is the second recent acquisition for Starliner, which also purchased recipes from Nancy’s Home Cooking in February .

A new steakhouse opens and a Mexican grill moves into a former steakhouse

Columbus gets a new steakhouse this weekend, while a former steakhouse space has been given new life. The Capital Grille steakhouse chain opens a location at 1827 Olentangy River Road Sunday. Capital Grille takes over the former Champps space in the Lennox Town Center plaza. Meanwhile, a former Texas Roadhouse location at 1540 Bethel Road reopened this week as Don Tequila Mexican Grill and Cantina. This is Don Tequila’s fifth restaurant in the Columbus area.

Three times the charm for pancake house

The Original Pancake House opened its third Central Ohio location recently, this one at 6330 E. Dublin Granville Road, close to New Albany. The first location of the Portland, Oregon-based franchise opened in Upper Arlington in 2017.

The Dipped Donut goes gluten free

The Dipped Donut at 256 S. Sandusky St. in Delaware will close Saturday, July 27, to be converted into a production space for its gluten free bakery next door. The doughnut shop allows guests to customize toppings for its cake doughnuts.
