The Ohio State Buckeyes assembled one of the top college football rosters in the country heading into the 2024 season. They poached several top talents through the transfer portal including running back Quinshon Judkins, defensive back Caleb Downs, and quarterback Will Howard.

They also added key pieces for future rosters through their impeccable 2024 recruiting class. The group is headlined by No. 1 overall recruit Jeremiah Smith who’s been turning heads ever since he stepped foot in Columbus. The 6-foot-3 wideout is fitting right in with the Buckeye program known for sending top pass catchers to the NFL.

Not only are Buckeye fans setting high expectations for the freshman, but so are college football analysts.

Smith made The Athletic’s annual ‘Freak’ list which identifies some of the most impressive athletes in college football. Typically, this list is full of upperclassmen who’ve had a few years of college football training. Smith comes in at No. 7 and has yet to play a single down for the Buckeyes.

“Everything about him is elite, we’re told, especially his work ethic. In addition, OSU coaches say he “has great hands, a great catch radius and does freaky things on a daily basis,” Bruce Feldman wrote.

Smith is the highest-ranked Buckeye on Feldman’s list and could be an immediate contributor to the Buckeyes’ offense. Other Ohio State players on the list include linebacker Sonny Styles at No. 19, and guard Donovan Jackson at No. 26.
