The fastest player on the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes roster will shock you

Chances are extraordinarily slim you'd be correct if I gave you 50 guesses as to who the fastest player on the Ohio State Buckeyes is. Forget stars like TreVeyon Henderson, Emeka Egbuka, Caleb Downs, and Denzel Burke.

Even freshman phenom Jeremiah Smith could only tie this player for the crown. On Wednesday, it was revealed which player has the fastest GPS-timed speed on the team, and they shockingly tied Smith.

True freshman Garrett Stover, cousin of former Ohio State tight end Cade Stover, AKA "Farmer Gronk," tied Smith as the fastest Buckeye in 2024. Jeremy Birmingham of " THE Podcast " revealed this during their latest episode.

Garrett Stover, a weak-side linebacker who has outgrown his original safety position distinction, immediately becomes classified as a freak athlete. No one at 6-foot-1, 220 pounds, should be clocked at 23.2 mph. For context, that's D.K. Metcalf and Tyreek Hill-type speed.

Ohio State linebackers coach James Laurinaitis spoke about Stover's role after practice, ensuring he'll be a core special teamer this fall despite the team's roster depth. The reason? His toughness and speed.

Cade Stover was a fourth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He produced 82 receptions for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns over his career after converting from a linebacker to a tight end. He posted some of the best athletic testing scores of any tight end in the class.
