Suspect who attacked Stevens County Deputy Prosecutor with machete shot and killed by law enforcement

STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. - A Stevens County Deputy Prosecutor was attacked by a man with a machete near the courthouse Friday afternoon.

According to the Stevens County Sheriff's Office, the prosecutor suffered a serious injury to his face and was taken to a nearby hospital. He was able to give a description of the suspect and vehicle.

The suspect was found a short time later parked in a gravel lot north of Colville.

Stevens County said the suspect got out of the vehicle with a machete and charged at a deputy.

The deputy shot and killed the suspect.

The prosecutor who was attacked is expected to make a full recovery.
