The Rookie: Tru Valentino Leaves Police Drama Ahead of Season 7

ABC police procedural drama The Rookie is bidding adieu to a series regular. Tru Valentino, who portrays Sergeant Aaron Thorsen, has been confirmed to be exiting the show. The 35-year-old American actor initially joined the Nathan Fillion-led series in season four and ended up acquiring a full-time spot due to the popularity of his character. Nevertheless, Valentino is set to leave The Rookie prior to the premiere of Season 7.

Tru Valentino exits ABC’s The Rookie before Season 7

While the reason behind his exit is currently unknown, Tru Valentino will not return to The Rookie for its seventh edition.

Even though the news was confirmed by TVLine recently, rumors regarding his departure started to surface last month. The actor was notably absent at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel in July 2024. Tru Valentino’s unexplained truancy at the presentation led fans to speculate that he could leave The Rookie in the coming days.

He made his debut on the series in 2021 as Aaron Thorsen in the capacity of a recurring character. Thorsen was presented as the son of a renowned rapper who had a massive TikTok following due to his lavish lifestyle. He ended up getting entangled in legal proceedings after the mysterious passing of his friend. However, Thorsen was acquitted of all charges and eventually joined forces with the Los Angeles police department. The character subsequently became a series regular in seasons five and six.

Despite Tru Valentino’s decision to leave The Rookie, the ABC drama will have no shortage of officers come Season 7. In July 2024, it was confirmed that two new faces would be joining the cast for its seventh outing. Deric Augustine is set to portray Miles, a seasoned cop from Texas who will join the LAPD as a rookie. Meanwhile, Patrick Keleher has been cast to play Seth, an ideal officer who struggles to take quick and decisive actions.

The Rookie Season 7 is expected to come out in 2025. However, an official release date has yet to be announced by ABC.
