A teaser trailer for Osgood PerkinsThe Monkey has been released.

The Monkey is an upcoming horror movie based on a Stephen King story, which was published in 1980, of the same name. The movie is directed by Perkins, who recently made 2024’s Longlegs for Neon with Nicolas Cage.

Check out The Monkey teaser trailer below (watch more trailers and clips):

What do we know about The Monkey?

“In The Monkey, when twin brothers Hal and Bill discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them,” the plot description reads, per Deadline. “The brothers decide to throw the monkey away and move on with their lives, growing apart over the years. But when the mysterious deaths begin again, the brothers must reunite to find a way to destroy the monkey for good before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.”

The film stars Theo James, Christian Convery, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, and Sarah Levy.

Perkins wrote the script for The Monkey in addition to directing. Prior to Longlegs, Perkins helmed 2015’s The Blackcoat’s Daughter, 2016’s I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and 2020’s Gretel & Hansel.

James Wan produces the film under his Atomic Monster banner. Michael Clear, Jason Cloth, and Dave Caplan also serve as producers, while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, Fred Berger, Chris Ferguson, Peter Luo, Nancy Xu, and John Friedberg are executive producers.

“Stephen King is the godfather of the horror genre,” Wan previously said of the movie. “He had a huge influence on me as a child and throughout my career, and it’s always been a dream to help bring one of his stories to life. The Monkey is a personal favorite, with its simple, iconic, and incredibly marketable conceit. And I can’t imagine anyone better than a visionary and lifelong genre fan like Osgood to bring this to life.”

The Monkey will be released in United States theaters on February 21, 2025, from Neon.
