Many sports fans are wondering what happened to Chiefsaholic, the Kansas City Chiefs superfan otherwise known as Xaviar Babudar. Earlier in 2024, the 30-year-old football fanatic known for dressing in a full gray wolf suit and who became a social media star entered a guilty plea for various bank robberies he committed. His infamy has grown to the point that an Amazon Prime documentary, executively produced by rapper Drake and others, about the character is in the works. Here’s what we know so far about the fate of Chiefsaholic, including his arrest and sentencing.

What was Chiefsaholic arrested and sentenced for?

Chiefsaholic, aka Xaviar Babudar, was arrested and sentenced by a federal judge on Thursday, September 5, to over 17 years in prison for a string of 11 bank robberies. Over 16 months starting in March 2022, he stole more than $800,000 across seven states and attempted to launder the money through various casinos and online gambling sites, per ESPN.

As part of his sentencing, Babudar is also required to pay over $532,000 in restitution and has been forced to forfeit an autographed painting of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefsaholic was initially arrested on December 16, 2022 after robbing the Tulsa Teacher Credit Union in Bixby, Oklahoma. He then attempted to escape in March 2023 after removing his GPS ankle monitor but was caught in July 2023 in Sacramento, California.

Matthew Merryman, Babudar’s attorney, argued that his robberies were caused by his gambling addiction, but prosecutors by the U.S. Attorney Office said that they were instead driven by his addiction to the Chiefs and to fame.

Babudar also faces additional charges in Oklahoma, so it’s possible that his lengthy prison sentence will be extended even further.
