Construction Workers Find World War 2 Era Bomb in Colorado
I am pretty sure that every construction worker who has ever lived has always wanted to unearth something historical. I know I would want to find something amazing if I were digging deep into the dirt. There were times when I was a kid when I hoped I would find a fossil of a Tyrannosaurus Rex or a Triceratops while digging on the side of the house. That never happened. I did, however, find a couple of bottle caps and a few nails that were buried.
Art historian and former Clyfford Still Museum senior consulting curator David Anfam dies at age 69
Denver, CO – August 23, 2024 – Art historian and former Clyfford Still Museum (CSM) senior consulting curator David Anfam died on August 21 in London. Anfam saw the artist’s 1979 retrospective at The Met in New York, New York while researching the artist as a doctoral student. Defended in 1984, his dissertation on Still was one of the first in-depth studies of the artist. For the next two decades, he continued to publish pivotal scholarship on Still. “Anfam was the world’s foremost expert on Clyfford Still in the decades following the artist’s death,” said Bailey Placzek, CSM’s curator of collections and catalogue raisonné research and project manager. “His scholarship sustained Still’s legacy during that time and has been critical to CSM’s ongoing documentation and understanding of the artist’s collection since it came to Denver in 2011.”

Denver & Tucson ~ An Autumn Wholesale Buyer’s Bounty
August 23, 2024 - Wholesale gem and mineral buyers have been coming to the annual Denver Gem & Mineral Showcase in September for over fifty years. The gem, mineral, and jewelry shows in Denver have provided a plethora of autumn wholesale dealers from which buyers could stock up for their holiday sales inventory. For many years, Tucson has also hosted an autumn gem and jewelry showcase (not so many minerals) that features many wholesale vendors — the Tucson Fall Gem Showcase, held the week before the Denver Showcase opens. And now, there will be a new, unique, citywide gem and mineral showcase held in Tucson in the fall, on October 3-7. It’s being called the Dealers Tucson Fall Gem & Mineral Show, at which over 25 rock, gem, and mineral warehouses in Tucson, primarily wholesale businesses open year-round, are co-op’ing a new citywide autumn showcase.

Hole No. 16 proves difficult at BMW Championship in Castle Pines
Each round of the BMW Championship, The Denver Gazette will pick the most impactful hole at Castle Pines Golf Club:. Notable: The demanding par 3 had plenty of moments on Friday. Denver native Wyndham Clark almost made an ace. Adam Scott put it within three feet during his round of 63. Max Homa hit the ball long and left into the grandstand. Austin Eckroat put the ball in the water and then almost holed his third shot for par. Plenty of action happened on a hole where there were more bogeys (16) than birdies (15). The stroke average was just over par but on a day where scoring was low, the 16th was not easy.
