COMMERCE — Texas A&M University-Commerce softball team hosted the most home games in NCAA Division I during the 2024 regular season.
The Lions hosted 37 home games at the John Cain Family Softball Complex in 2024, which was tied for the most in Division I through the regular season. South Florida and Grand Canyon hosted 37 regular season home games as well.
Accounting for the postseason, LSU played 38 home games, hosting three postseason games, while Georgia also hosted 37 games, having played five postseason games at home.
'We always enjoy playing in front of our own crowd,' said coach Brittany Miller. 'We brought in some talented teams this year to Commerce and we are excited to do the same next year.'
In total, Commerce was home to 49 Division I softball games in 2024, which includes the 11-game Lion Classic on Feb. 9-11 and the 12-game Lion Invitational on Feb. 23-25.
Eighteen teams visited the friendly confines of John Cain Family Softball Complex this season. Of the 18 teams that played in Commerce, three advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
'Hosting quality, Division I competition in Commerce is a strategic priority for our athletics department. The positive impact to our university, the local community, and our region is unquestioned, while also providing an enhanced student-athlete experience that supports greater balance between academic and athletic obligations,' said Director of Athletics Jim Curry.
'Attendance at home events not only supports Lion student-athletes, but also supports local businesses within our community and region. We are proud to be a leader among all Division I institutions and endeavor to maintain this standing in the future.'
