Kendrick Lamar is reportedly looking for protection for this weekend.

The rapper is shooting a music video this coming weekend in Compton, California . TMZ reported that law enforcement told them that Kendrick's team got all the right permits for the project and the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. will send deputies for extra security during the shoot. The source did not elaborate on the number of deputies for security reasons. The gig will take place all over Compton and TMZ was told that his production company is paying around $120 an hour to have them on hand.

Law enforcement sources shared with the outlet that police are aware of the recent feud between Kendrick and Drake but no known threats have risen at this time. The battle between the two unofficially ended or at least has taken a pause as Kendrick did not respond to Drake's May 2024 diss track, The Heart Part 6. The diss track's title referred to Lamar’s continuing five-part single series The Heart which began in 2010.

The Heart Part 6 was in response to Kendrick's Not Like Us. That track has topped the Billboard charts and have had many declaring Kendrick the undisputed winner of the beef. On Wednesday, Kendrick performed the diss track five times in row at his Pop concert event celebration of Juneteenth at Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.

Each time, K.Dot (which Kendrick is also known as) had a different rendition and artists to come on the stage to help him perform it. He had Dr. Dre, Mustard and others like Black Hippy, Blxst, Steve Lacy, YG, Big Boy, G Perico.

At the special one-night-only concert event, he performed 17 other songs which included other Drake disses such as Like That, 6:16 in LA, and Euphoria. He also performed hits such as Humble, Alright and King Kunta.

While the feud is not currently active, TMZ reported the authorities are still taking it seriously and paying attention to social media in case of any drama. During the aftermath of their diss battle, The Canadian rapper's mansion was involved in three police-involved incident and one of them was a shooting of one of his security guard. Kendrick has not been linked to the shooting and no suspect has been arrested.
