CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Governor Roy Cooper is set to visit a Concord preschool Thursday and address what he has labeled an urgent need for childcare financial support as federal pandemic-era funding is set to expire next week.

The governor was in Charlotte two weeks ago and addressed the issue.

NC House seeks higher worker pay, childcare, and voucher money in budget bill

“Child care centers like The Early Learning Center Preschool teach children important building blocks and help prepare them for their future. A lack of access to childcare is preventing parents from entering the workforce, meanwhile, Republican legislators plan to spend $625 million on taxpayer-funded private school vouchers. We must address the upcoming funding cliff and invest in early childhood education and child care.”

The governor will visit Families First Cabarrus County at 12 p.m. Thursday.
