CONCORD, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Within 28 hours, two firetrucks were hit by passenger vehicles while working at scenes, according to the Concord Fire Department.

Both incidents happened while operating on I-85 and neither resulted in injuries to firefighters.

The first incident happened around 9 p.m. on Saturday night. It is unclear if the occupants in the vehicle that hit the firetruck were injured, but EMS was called to the scene, officials said.

Around 1 a.m. on Monday, Engine 11 was hit by a tractor-trailer in the second incident and did not stay at the scene. CFD is working with the North Carolina Highway Patrol and Concord Police on this investigation.

These incidents are the third and fourth times in the past year that a Concord firetruck was struck by a passenger vehicle while en route to a scene.
