‘4Mick’ tourney set for Hess Fields
The seventh annual fast-pitch softball tournament held in memory of Mikayla “Mick” Focht will have a new venue for this year’s event. Instead of Legion Park in Hollidaysburg, the tournament will be held on Aug. 10-11 at Hess Fields in State College. Logan Elementary School Fields in Altoona will also be used again.

Caitlin Clark breaks WNBA's game assists record with 19 in Fever's loss to Wings. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Indiana rookie Caitlin Clark broke the WNBA record for assists in a game Wednesday night, finishing with 19 in the Fever’s 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings. The previous record was 18 by Courtney Vandersloot for Chicago on Aug. 31, 2020. Vandersloot also had 18 in a playoff game on Sept. 28, 2021. And the league’s previous record for assists by a rookie was 16, set by Ticha Penicheiro for Sacramento on July 29, 1998. The record-breaker for Clark came on a play where she set Kelsey Mitchell up for a 3-pointer with 2:22 remaining. That tied it at 93, but Dallas closed with an 8-0 run. Clark entered the game as the WNBA’s assists-per-game leader this season. She added 24 points on 10-for-19 shooting.

I received my paperwork to get my driver’s license picture taken and dreaded going in since four years ago it seemed to take forever. I was very happy to see that is no longer the case. I would like to commend the employees on duty on July 10 around 3:30 p.m., from the lady who greets you to the lady who took the information and picture.
A star spangled effort: Jackson girl raises money for cancer research with patriotic stars
JACKSON TWP. – A simple craft enjoyed by a 9-year-old and her dad has become a chance to help those battling cancer, including her grandmother. McKenna Wilson has raised around $2,000 painting red, white and blue stars on the yards of friends and family. The money raised will be donated to Johns Hopkins' cancer research center.
Steelers to host joint practice with Buffalo Bills before preseason clash
The Pittsburgh Steelers will welcome the Buffalo Bills to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe for a joint practice on August 15, the NFL announced on Monday. The Steelers training camp schedule had not previously listed that date. The joint practice will not be open to the public. It will be held just two days before the Steelers play the Bills on August 17 at Acrisure Stadium for their second preseason game.
