PENNDOT ANNOUNCES NEW DATE FOR BOX CULVERT INSTALLATION OVER MARSH RUN
PennDOT has announced the re-scheduled date for the installation of a box culvert over Marsh Run in Indiana Borough and White Township. The new date is this Thursday, July 18th and the project will happen from 7 AM to 7 PM that day. There will be some extra traffic restrictions in the project area of Wayne Avenue, as there will be one-lane flagging operations with closures up to five minutes expected as a crane gets placed to install the box culvert. On that day, motorists are encouraged to find an alternate route.

ERIE, Pa. - The Somerset Patriots were propelled by a 16 hit offensive explosion in their 10-3 victory over the Erie SeaWolves on Saturday night in game five of a six-game series at UPMC Park. Eight different batters had a hit, while six different Patriots had multiple hits in the contest. Road Work Set For Jackson and Concord Townships
Several local roads will be shut down later this week in Jackson and Concord Townships. In Jackson Township, Pattison Street Extension will be closed for three to four weeks beginning Wednesday. The closure will run from Autumn Wood Drive to Gate Dancer/Old Ehrman Road in Cranberry Township. Access from Hartzell Road to Pattison will also be closed.

Somerset Slay captures softball titles
Contributed Photo – The Somerset Slay softball team has made a clean sweep of both the Minor Division regular season and playoff championships in the Lake Ontario Youth Baseball/Softball League. The Slay went 10-0 during the regular season and was seeded No. 1 for the playoffs where they defeated the Roy-Hart Queen Bees in the quarterfinals, the Lyndonville Orange in the semifinals and the Roy-Hart Rays 17-10 in the championship game on July 3rd. Barry C. Fails, 76 of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 at his home. He was born April 10, 1948 in Indiana, PA, the son of the late Raymond Fails and Clare (McFeaters) Fails. He was a gas well driller for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles and Coral-Graceton Sportsman Club and a social member of the VFW of Blairsville & New Florence. Barry was a member of the Black Lick Volunteer Fire Company for over 20 years where he enjoyed driving the International Pumper Truck. He enjoyed running demolition derbies for many years, working on cars, riding his Harley and deer hunting.
