2024 SoCon Football Media Day Set for Tuesday, July 23
Cullowhee, N.C. – Excitement for the return to the football gridiron ramps up on Tuesday, July 23, as The Southern Conference again converges on the Hotel Hartness in Greenville, S.C., for the 2024 SoCon Football Media Day. The SoCon's 2024 preseason all-conference team and the official preseason poll from the league's head coaches will be unveiled as a part of Tuesday's event, followed by on-site interviews with media members.

East Carolina is inside of 40 days of kickoff, when the Pirates take on Norfolk State inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Aug. 31 to begin the sixth year of the Mike Houston era in Greenville. Firefighters respond to rollover crash on NC 11, driver hospitalized with minor injuries
A vehicle rollover in Winterville but thankfully the driver survived. According to the Winterville Community Fire Department on Monday night July 22 a vehicle collision occurred on the NC 11 South Bypass. Ayden Fire and Rescue Station responded, and the firefighters discovered a vehicle rollover by the Forlines Road overpass. There was only one driver of the vehicle who was actually out by the time the firefighters arrived. The scene was cleared, and the driver was taken to ECU Health with non-threatening injuries.

Grimesland man charged with statutory rape; victim's mother charged as accessory
A Grimesland man has been charged with sex crimes alleged by a child in his care and the victim's mother was also charged for failing to report the abuse at the pair's home. The Pitt County Sheriff's Office said in May their agency received multiple notices from Child Protective Services regarding alleged abuse. Woman wanted for questioning in New Year’s homicide in Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Deputies are looking for a woman who may be connected to a homicide on New Year’s Day in Fayetteville. Henrico Police arrest 18-year-old in connection with Eastern Henrico homicide
An 18-year-old Henrico man has been arrested and charged in connection to a June shooting that left a man dead in Eastern Henrico. Henrico Police took Damarcus Alexander Mason into custody July 19 and charged him with second-degree murder, armed robbery, and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with a June 16 shooting in the 4600 block of Grand Ledge Court that left 23-year-old Lamontae Aubrey Scott, 23, of Sandston dead. The shooting occurred in the Townhouses of White Oak community near The Shops at White Oak Village.
