Police are searching for four suspects wanted in a shooting in Brooklyn.At least six shots were fired just before 8 p.m. Friday in East New York near the elevated subway tracks on Livonia Avenue.A 38-year-old man was shot in the back. Floodwater bursts through wall of NYCHA apartment
NEW YORK -- The situation for a NYCHA tenant has gone from bad to worse after ankle-deep water inundated her Brooklyn apartment during Wednesday's storm. Judge Stops Bus Service Cuts After Lawsuit
A state court judge on Thursday ordered the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to stop the reduction of bus service in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Manhattan. At a hearing on Thursday afternoon on a lawsuit filed on behalf of bus riders by Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams and the Transportation Workers Union of America (TWU) Local 100, State Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron issued a Temporary Restraining Order to restore recent cuts made to bus services in several boroughs, according to a press release.
Water treatment worker rescues fawn
Saugerties water department superintendent Mike Hopf shared a heartwarming story at the village board’s regular meeting on Monday, July 15. “On arrival to work today [water treatment operator] Billy Voerg saw a fawn trapped in one of our lagoons. I was told it was cold and tired and needed help so the staff went into troubleshooting mode, how best to save the deer. We decided it would be best to do it by hand, so Billy put on his waders and traversed down the lagoon wall into the lagoon and scooped up the fawn, who welcomed him, into his arms and placed it in the sun, where it could dry; we fed it an apple slice and then a short time later, the worried mother — the grateful mother — came out and they were reunited.”
